I can’t tell you how good the Modulus-86 is on Klipschorns. When coupled with my Emotiva XDA-2 DAC, that signal chain is dead quiet. I’ve put my ears up to the tweeters and I hear ZERO hiss. At 105dB/1W/1m speaker efficiency, I’m guessing I only run in the 1-2W range continuously, with excursions perhaps in the 5-10W range. The heat sink NEVER gets warm. Heck, I can’t feel any heat at all from it.

I’d describe the amp as articulate. It is both detailed and punchy. When presented with delicate symphonic pieces, it sounds incredibly true to my ears. When challenged with harder material that has sudden dynamics and deep bass, I cannot perceive any hint of clipping or running out of steam. Whatever is requested from it, it delivers.

This design is bulletproof and fairly easy to build. Perhaps more importantly is the availability and responsiveness of Tom. I’ve had more than one question about construction and power supply choice, and Tom has been there at every turn.

I’m planning to build 4 more channels so I can tri-amp my speakers and use a digital crossover to set whatever crossover point / slope I want. Based on what I know already, it should be stunning.

I only have two thumbs or I’d give it more, but two enthusiastic thumbs up from me!
