Mt. Rainier

In July I went with a friend to Mt. Rainier to watch the sunrise. We had an awesome trip, did some hiking and also got a chance to visit Mt. St. Helens.

Mt. Rainier night clouds

Night clouds at Mt. Rainier. This is a 15-minute exposure. The red glare on the trees is from the lights on the car. I didn't notice any light on the trees when I took the picture, but in a 15-minute exposure it doesn't take many photons per minute to form an image on film... The white streak of light at the top of the picture is a star trail. Caused by the Earth's rotation.

Sunrise at Mt. Rainier

Sunrise at Sunrise Point. This is exactly what we came for!! Awesome! The entire sunrise lasted about 30 seconds. Maybe a minute.

Rainier Reflection

Mt. Rainier reflected in Reflection Lake. The sunrise seen from this spot was not as spectacular as the one at Sunrise Point. But still pretty good...
