Grand Teton National Park

Immediately south of Yellowstone is Grand Teton National Park. It has no thermal features, but is just genuinely beautiful.

The first day I was there was actually not all that photogenic. But I sure didn't drive 2000 miles just to sit and sulk because of sub-optimal weather. It seems like my favorite pastime activity in not-so-great weather is macro photography. The complementary colors set me off and voila a picture was composed... :-) |

The sunset was almost non-existent. As I was packing down my gear, Mother Nature put on this dramatic light show. I quickly put the camera back on the tripod and took this picture. Moments later the light was gone. Be patient at sunsets. You may experience the unexpected. |

After sunset I noticed the full moon was up. So before the light disappeared completely, I made a few pictures. |

Because of the sub-optimal weather, I decided to stay another night at Grand Teton. This was definitely the right decision as the sunrise next morning was absolutely incredible. |
