Craters of the Moon National Monument is a totally weird place in the middle of Idaho. You drive along Hwy. 20. As far as the eye can see, yellow soil and small, windblown, greenish-gray scrubs seem to be the only tourist attraction in Idaho. Then all of a sudden, in the middle of nowhere, the soil turns pitch black. 10 miles further down the road different volcanic structures shoots out of the ground. Very fascinating. Very weird!

Different kinds of vegetation are desperately clinging to the lava rocks.

Lava

The texture of lava is quite interesting. It has all kinds of air pockets in it.
