In July a friend and I went on a few short hikes in the North Cascades.


Lake 22

Lake 22 is one of the many alpine lakes in the Cascades. It's very pretty and is located at the end of a pretty good morning hike.

Big Four Ice Caves

Big Four Ice Caves are quite interesting. It looks like someone had a glacier airlifted into place by one of those huge Chinook helicopters.

Even though the glacier is not all that big, we spent about an hour getting back to the hiking trail as we decided to take a shortcut through some scrubs. Bad idea!! What seemed as an easy shortcut quickly became a challenge as the vegetation conveniently hid huge rocks, creeks, etc. We got pretty wet and learned not to take shortcuts... :-)
