The immediate reaction to the terrorist attacks on September 11 was that people started flying the flag a lot more than usual. For some reason it just seemed like the right thing to do. A few days after 9/11 I went for a walk in the neighborhood where I live. I don't recall ever seeing this many flags flying at any given time. Not even on the fourth of July have I seen as many. Here are a few samples.
