In the beginning of October I visited a friend of mine who lives in Boston. The primary purpose of the trip was to experience the incredible fall colors of the northeast.

The fall colors hadn't quite started around Boston so I went to the legendary Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire. The colors were indeed spectacular. |

Fortunately I also had the opportunity to spend a little time in downtown Boston.

Harvard University is located in Boston. Compared to UW the main campus seems rather small, but they seem to have different departments and buildings distributed all over the city. |
The main campus is a 5-minute walk from Charles River. Harvard doesn't offer any sports scholarships, however, they do sponsor a number of different sports activities e.g. crew. |

Beacon Hill is the old part of town. A good 4-6 square blocks of old, charming houses, narrow streets, and interesting streetlights. Some of the streetlights have red, stained glass and are actually quite characteristic of that area. I spent a while trying to photograph this one but couldn't quite get the composition right. Then I happened to glance at the brick wall next to the light. The combination of the late-afternoon sun and the shadows just made the picture. A few minutes later the streetlight was in the shade and the picture was gone. |

Boston Public Library is quite impressive -- especially at night. If you visit Boston, definitely visit BPL. |
